watch Tennessee House expels two Democrats in history act of partisan retaliation

|watch Tennessee House expels two Democrats in history act of partisan retaliation|

n retaliation for their participation in a gun-reform demonstration on the House floor last week, Republican lawmakers in Tennessee expelled two Democratic colleagues. This prompted a furious response from the White House.

Reps have been the subject of resolutions. Gloria Johnson, Justin Jones, and Justin Pearson led chants with supporters in the gallery from the House floor on Thursday. The resolution stated that the three “did knowingly and intentionally bring disorder and dishonor to the House of Representatives” and had engaged in “disorderly behavior.”

Yesterday, protesters gathered at the House Chamber to oppose the expulsion. Many of them chanted, “Fascists! Fundamentalists!” ( Speaker Sexton eventually requested that state troopers clear the gallery.) Jones additionally posted video of a supposed fight with Conservative Rep. Justin Lafferty of Knoxville on the House floor and blamed Lafferty for wrongdoing.

The video was a compilation of footage from that day and later, and Democrats claimed that the member who took the footage probably broke House rules because it was shot on the House floor.

Both Jones and Lafferty are filming the protesters in the galleries in the video that Jones shared. Jones then, at that point, pivots and momentarily films behind Lafferty, so, all in all Lafferty turns and seems to smack Jones’ telephone.
